IITS represents the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). They are fifteen autonomous engineering and technology institutes offering higher education. It was established by the Indian Parliament as Institutes of National Importance. The IITs aim was to train engineers and scientists as a skilled workforce. It was to support the social and economic development of India in 1947 after independence.

The IITs locations are in Kharagpur in 1951, Mumbai in 1958, Chennai and Kanpur in 1959, Delhi in 1963, Guwahati in 1994, Roorkee in 2001, Bhubaneswar in 2008, Indore and Mandi in 2009. All the IITs are autonomous universities and connect to others through the IIT council overseeing the administration.
Admission and Objective
IITS follow a common admission process for undergraduate admissions. The IIT-JEE, the Joint Entrance Examination allows selecting undergraduate 8000 candidates every year. The admission of postgraduation is as per the basis of the JMET, GATE, CEED, and JAM. Nearly 15,500 undergraduates and 12,000 graduate students, study in the IITS.
IIT alumni have success in various professions. The IITs success led to more creation of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology in the 1990s and 2000s. It includes IITS in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan, and BHU.

Each Institute of IITS has modern well-equipped laboratories, well-stocked technical library, and state-of-the-art computer network. The instruction of the medium is English. Credit-based programs in the IITs offer students the flexibility to progress. There are Bachelor’s degrees in engineering, scientific, and technological disciplines. Some IITS have dual-degree, offering M.Tech programs. However, the undergraduate admissions for any nation is through the JEE.
